This is a charity event and fun (if not slightly absurd) family day out. On a formally laid out racetrack you can bet on the goat races (the ‘jockeys’ run along behind and coax them along), plus there are food and drink stalls, live bands, children’s entertainment and a fancy dress competition.
The most important part of the Dar es Salaam Goat Races is raising money to support small local organisations and charities that will use the funds to make a significant and sustainable impact on their work, benefiting the wider community within which they are based.
We would like to thank everybody, from our generous sponsors, to all the people who have “owned” a goat, taken part in the raffle and betting or just turned up on the day and had a great time, for their contribution in making such a big difference to the lives of so many Tanzanians.
